Precise Fuel Tracking at Every Rental Touchpoint
Pocket today announced fuel level tracking and automatic refuel charges for RentalOS — allowing operators to record fuel levels at check-in and check-out with a visual fuel slider, and automatically apply refuel charges when vehicles are returned with less fuel.
This feature eliminates one of the most common sources of disputes in the rental industry: fuel level disagreements between operators and renters.
How It Works
A new draggable fuel level slider appears on the rental check-in and check-out screens:
- Check-out — the operator records the vehicle’s fuel level when handing the keys to the renter
- Check-in — the operator records the fuel level when the vehicle is returned
- Auto refuel charge — if the return fuel level is lower than the departure level, RentalOS automatically calculates and applies a refuel charge to the rental invoice
The fuel slider provides a visual, intuitive interface that replaces manual notes or checkbox-based fuel tracking. Operators can see the exact fuel level as a percentage and adjust it with a simple drag gesture.
Why It Matters
Fuel disputes are one of the most time-consuming aspects of rental operations. Renters often forget to refuel, and without a clear record, operators absorb the cost or risk a customer service issue.
With automatic refuel charges, the system handles the calculation transparently — the charge appears as a line item on the invoice, giving both the operator and the renter a clear, documented record of the fuel difference.
Available Now
Fuel level tracking is available on all RentalOS rental check-in and check-out screens.
